Baby Day Suggestions:

Baby Day can be a valuable time to affirm families with young children. If it is not on
the first Sunday of May then plan Sunday that is special. Some churches have a
Baby/Toddler Parade in conjunction with Mother's Day.
Ideas for the event:

  • Choose a theme for the day
  • Send a special invitation to each family with young children. This should include
    instructions for the day.
  • Have a parade with each family preparing a "float" that could be a decorated
    stroller or wagon
  • Mommy/Daddy look alike (boy/girl dressed "like" Daddy/Mommy)
  • Walk child w/ parent and introduce as in a pageant.
  • Tell about what they like to do.
  • Be sensitive to single parents/teen parent.
  • Give a small gift such as a sippy cup, Bible story book or other item to each
    child.
  • Introduce the Early Childhood teachers/helpers and honor with a small token of
    appreciation.
  • Host a Baby/Toddler Olympics Game Day. Give ribbons to the winners of the
    event.
  • Take pictures to place on the Nursery/Toddler bulletin board.
  • Take digital pictures of the children playing in then church nursery. Make a slide
    show for the congregation to view. Emphasize the theme of the year that is on
    the poster.
